HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – UA System Chancellor Finis St. John today announced that he will recommend Dr. Chuck Karr as interim president of The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) to succeed retiring president Dr. Darren Dawson. Dr. Karr recently retired from The University of Alabama (UA) after 26 years, which included a lengthy and highly successful tenure as the College of Engineering’s dean.

The UA System Health and Safety Task Force made the recommendation to UA System Chancellor Finis St. John and the app Board of Trustees after assessing statistical data, increased vaccine availability and public health guidelines.

For the fifth consecutive year at the University of Alabama and the fourth consecutive year at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Alabama in Huntsville, in-state students will not see an increase in base tuition for the 2021 – 2022 academic year. In addition, nonresident tuition will not increase for the third sequential year.
