ÖíÖíapp

W. John Daniel is Acting General Counsel for The ÖíÖíapp and UAB Chief University Counsel. He represents The Board of Trustees and its institutions in all legal matters and oversees the Office of Counsel of the ÖíÖíapp, which is comprised of attorneys and support staff located throughout the System. In addition, John manages legal affairs for UAB and its affiliated entities.

John joined the UAB Office of Counsel in 2004 as University Counsel and was elevated to Chief University Counsel in 2006. Prior to joining the UAB Office of Counsel, John was a partner in a Birmingham-based law firm where he practiced corporate, tax and transactional law. John earned his B.A. from The University of Alabama in 1991 and his J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1994. He also obtained an LL.M (Taxation) from New York University School of Law in 1995.
